The role:

As a fulltime employee of Ferguson Consulting, you will function as a contract IT resource in the role Product Designer at the enterprise level for our telecommunications client in St. Louis, MO. As a Ferguson Consulting employee, and a consultant to our end client, you can focus on your technical skills development and career versus becoming a client SME - which is always in your best interest.

Our client is looking for an individual with a “Gorgeous portfolio” and who is “oozing” with UX passion. Essentially, they are looking for someone that may or not be experienced in hardcore UX work, but know design-thinking methods, know it’s the right way to build products, and aggressively learn and advocate the methodologies. In this role you will not be put into a box where you will be limiting your UX effectiveness.

This individual will collaborate closely with IT delivery teams to create compelling user-centered experiences for our client’s internal customer portal applications, which are used in call centers, field operations, and back offices.

The Product Designer is responsible for overall UX solutions and ensures usability is delivered within project constraints. The ideal candidate has hands on experience with material design and a demonstrated ability in creating a shared vision for User Experience across business and technology stakeholder teams.

What You’ll Do:

  • User-Centered
    • The client builds internal-facing experiences and UIs for customer representatives and agents.
    • Key advocate for the user and responsible for both advocating and delivering a user-centered solution.
  • Collaborative
    • Work with cross-functional teams and different organizations to solve complex workflows and user challenges.
  • Build strong working relationships while maintaining strong advocacy for the user.
  • Iterative
    • Meet with end-users, storymap, wireframe, design, and validate designs with user testing.
  • Execute daily to hit deadlines and plan accordingly for upcoming work while always thinking "big picture"
  • Accountable to deliverable:
    • Wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes
    • Storymaps based on user interviews
    • Documenting workflows and interactions within Jira cards
    • Updates to pattern library and styleguide
    • Usability testing
  • Problem solving
  • Build lasting working partnerships with people that think and work very differently organizationally.
  • Coding
    • A background in HTML/CSS expertise is absolutely helpful in understanding level of effort or helping UI developers with advanced CSS, but there is no coding that is part of this role.

Who You Are:

  • 5+ years as a UX Designer
  • Expert-level knowledge of user-centered methodologies
  • Expertise with one or more prototyping tools, such as Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch, Axure, etc.
  • Comfort presenting design work in front of a group or running a workshop with dozens of participants
  • Comfort giving and receiving critical constructive feedback
  • Positive-thinker, highly-motivated, self-starter
  • Occasional travel to other domestic offices for project work (10%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong visual design skills
  • Ability to sell UX ROI to a group
  • Experience juggling multiple agile projects in Jira
