Starting as a salaried fulltime employee of Ferguson Consulting, you will function as a contract IT resource in the role of Senior Data Storage Engineer at the enterprise level for our reinsurance client in Chesterfield, MO. This particular role is looking for a candidate who is interested in conversion after 6 months to a fulltime employee status with our client as the employer.

As a Senior Data Storage Engineer, you will work on a cross-functional team, responsible for a wide variety of tasks to engineer and support storage solutions and current infrastructure on various networks. You will need to be able to work collaboratively and seek to improve operational efficiency within enterprise infrastructure.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and manage storage technologies, SAN disaster recovery technologies, business continuity components and procedures.
  • Solves storage performance issues and handles requests
  • Provide guidance to storage administrators.
  • Reviews / modifies workflows for greater efficiency and works with Storage Engineers to ensure the environment is running optimally.
  • Manages SAN team in the analysis, identification, and resolution of IT incidents, specifically as related to Storage systems
  • Coordinates upgrade / maintenance activities.
  • Work with vendors to ensure environment is properly implemented, configured, managed and maintained.
  • Works with multiple teams (DBA, Servers, Networks and applications) and Project Managers to deliver storage solutions.
  • Fine tunes and creates procedures that can be handed down to operational team members as well as create / modify Maintenance Operation Protocols (MOPs) for change control items.
  • Automate repeatable operational procedures.
  • Develop capacity planning methodologies for the large enterprise organizations.
  • Monitors storage capacity and performs forecasting

Who You Are:

  • Proven Subject Matter Expert skills working with / supporting Enterprise level Storage and Backup solutions.
  • 5+ years experience with virtualization platforms and IT systems in a large-scale environment including installation, maintenance and ongoing support of the virtualization platform and support IT systems which provide the foundation to complex solutions
  • Experience with NetApp (certification preferred)
  • Experience with Pier
  • Automation: Ansible/Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field and 9+ years of relevant experience (Additional years of related experience, training, and/or certifications accepted in lieu of a degree)

Highly competitive base salary.
