R042419: Senior Report Writer with Data Analysis Skills

As a salaried fulltime employee of Ferguson Consulting, you will function as a contract IT resource in the role of Senior Data Analyst/Information Analyst at the enterprise level for our reinsurance client, a Fortune 100 company and leader in Business Intelligence and Big Data in Chesterfield, MO..

Under limited supervision, you will develop, modify and support existing reports and create new reports for the Investment Division. In this role, you will be part of a cross-functional team that supports reporting, cubes, feeding to Tableau. The client has spent considerable resources to build a modern reporting platform. In this role, you will need a strong understanding of SQL to triage data to the source.

The system uses a cloud-based solution and manages the investments for the private debt equity team: it completes wires, does the accounting, and funding for our client. The ideal candidate will have accounting, investment or financial services experience. In this role, you will need strong Report writing, SQL & Excel skills for supporting existing reports and creating new reports.

What You'll Do:

  • Develops, validates, documents, and maintains business and functional requirements and conducts structured walkthroughs of requirements with business and IT technical team members
  • Transforms business requirements into SQL statements
  • Develop, modify and support existing reports to meet business needs
  • Create new reports
  • Analyzes source system data in support of improving data quality
  • Works with the business to identify data issues and identify potential solutions
  • Proactively works to identify ways to improve data quality through business rules automation
  • Assists in evaluation of business requests to determine feasibility; researches and identifies options
  • Responds to questions from business and IT technical teams
  • Assists in evaluation of and tracking of new or enhanced solutions to determine potential issues, communicates how problems may affect business and recommends solutions
  • Assists in performing task automation and implements process improvements; recommends enhancements that result in increased quality and service
  • Respond to escalated calls from users and the help desk

Who You Are:

  • 3-5 years IT-related experience, such as Business Analysis, Data Analysis, etc.
  • Advanced SQL skills, Excel skills
  • Ability to be flexible when needed, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines
  • Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good data analysis skills
  • Ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
  • Ability to foster customer service as needed
  • Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Preferred:

    • 8+ years IT-related experience, such as Business Analysis, Data Analysis, Report Writing etc.
    • 2+ years Financial or Investment industry knowledge
    • LOMA Certification
    • Financial or Investment knowledge

Highly competitive base salary.
